La Policía de la Ciudad realizó una serie de operativos en jugueterías de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, donde se secuestraron 27 armas de juguete y 1.842.000 municiones de hidrogel debido a que estos productos no contaban con los permisos pertinentes y representaban un peligro para la salud de los niños. La operación fue parte de una investigación sobre la comercialización ilegal de estos artículos, y se desarrolló en conjunto con la Agencia Gubernamental de Control (AGC), la Cámara Argentina del Juguete y la Federación de Comercios y Servicios de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (FECOBA).
Los productos secuestrados eran pistolas de hidrogel, un tipo de juguete que utiliza pequeñas esferas de gel, similares a las municiones de las armas de aire comprimido. Sin embargo, estas pistolas no cumplen con las normativas de seguridad establecidas en el país y fueron identificadas como un riesgo para los menores, especialmente debido a su capacidad de causar daños oculares, hematomas, inflamaciones en la piel y riesgo de asfixia si el proyectil llega a ser ingerido o se dispara dentro de la boca.
La Cámara Argentina de la Industria del Juguete emitió una advertencia sobre los peligros de estos productos, indicando que la mayoría de estas armas son importadas y se comercializan principalmente de manera online, sin cumplir con las regulaciones locales que estipulan que estos juguetes no deberían ser vendidos a menores de 14 años.
En total, 8 locales ubicados en los barrios de Balvanera y Parque Chacabuco fueron inspeccionados. Sin embargo, 2 de ellos no pudieron ser revisados: uno por estar cerrado y el otro porque el dueño se negó al procedimiento. Como resultado, la AGC labró un acta por obstrucción de procedimiento inspectivo tras la negativa del comerciante.
La Fiscalía de Delitos Complejos, bajo la dirección de la Dra. Celsa Ramírez, dispuso la identificación y notificación de los responsables de los locales inspeccionados y ordenó el secuestro de los productos peligrosos. La medida busca garantizar la seguridad de los niños y prevenir posibles lesiones causadas por estos juguetes.
