También advierte sobre este tipo de estafas electrónicas que buscan generar cadenas entre los usuarios con el sólo fin de recabar información personal importante, invocando una supuesta ayuda que empresas multinacionales otorgarían a la institución o a la familia por el envío de esta información. Por eso, se aclara que es falso y que no se debe dar curso a lo que se solicita en estas cadenas. El Hospital Garrahan informa que no ha tenido contacto con paciente alguno ni con quienes dicen ser sus familiares con la identidad referida en las cadenas de mails y WhatsApp que trascendieron en los últimos días. En este caso, se trata de una cadena que lleva el nombre de una mujer -Silvia de Carranza- en la que se asegura que el reenvío garantiza que empresas como AOL, ZDNet y Amazon donen dinero para pagar un tratamiento en el hospital, lo cual es absolutamente falso.
Es importante que los usuarios estén informados acerca de la existencia de este tipo de engaños para proteger la información personal que se busca recabar con estas estafas, que últimamente se propagan vía WhatsApp. En la mayoría de los casos el remitente es un contacto conocido, que está propagando involuntariamente el engaño tras haber sido víctima.
