Cablevisión S.A. y Telecom Argentina anunciaron su fusión. La nueva compañía brindará el mayor poder en comunicación e información ya que a partir del 1 de enero del 2018 se convertirán en los dueños de la televisión por cable, Internet, telefonía móvil y fija. Este mega grupo comunicacional será el grupo más grande y concentrado de la Argentina, superando todos los niveles conocidos hasta el momento.
El Grupo Clarín y Telecom aprobaron que Cablevisión compre a la empresa telefónica. Si bien queda pendiente el aval formal del gobierno a través de la Enacom, este se da por descontado. En el comunicado que emitieron ambas compañías explicaron que buscan “constituirse en prestador convergente de las telecomunicaciones y participar de la apertura del sector que se inicia, según la regulación vigente, a partir de enero de 2018“.
Concentrará el 56% de las conexiones a Internet por banda ancha fija, el 35% de conectividad móvil, el 40% de tevé paga, el 42%, de la telefonía fija y el 34% de la telefonía móvil.
El analista en medios Martín Becerra destacó en su blog que el nuevo mega grupo comunicacional Cablevisión-Telecom tendrá mayor presencia en las zonas más ricas y con mayor población del país, y será el grupo más grande de la Argentina ya que concentrará el 56% de las conexiones a Internet por banda ancha fija, el 35% de conectividad móvil, el 40% de TV paga, el 42%, de la telefonía fija y el 34% de la telefonía móvil. “La prédica del gobierno del presidente Mauricio Macri acerca de inyectar mayor competencia en los sectores de la comunicación queda así expuesta a un sonado fracaso, pues en lugar de agregar nuevos concurrentes su política estimuló la fusión de los actores industriales dominantes”, aseguró el especialista.
Becerra, docente de la UBA y la UNQ e investigador del Conicet, aseveró sobre la fusión Cablevisión-Telecom: “Expresa un hito en la concentración de los mercados de información y comunicación de la Argentina y supera todos los niveles previos, que ya eran elevados”. Recordando, además, que el grupo Clarín es también: “El mayor editor de diarios, es propietario de radios líderes en AM (Radio Mitre) y FM (La 100) y de una de las cadenas de televisión abiertas más importantes (El Trece), además de ser accionista en Papel Prensa SA, la Agencia DyN y poseer señales de TV paga”.
“La fusión expresa un hito en la concentración de los mercados de información y comunicación de la Argentina y supera todos los niveles previos, que ya eran elevados”.
Desde la llegada al poder del gobierno de Mauricio Macri en diciembre de 2015, se desmontaron las regulaciones previas, en particular aquellas referidas a los límites a la concentración de la propiedad de medios. A través de decretos y resoluciones unilaterales que contradicen su propuesta de republicanismo, se echó por tierra la Ley de Servicios de Comunicación Audiovisual (vigente aún con algunos artículos) que llevó años de debates y encuentros por múltiples sectores de la sociedad, organizaciones y militantes.
Este nuevo conglomerado, fruto de la concentración entre Telecom y Cablevisión, lejos está de favorecer una comunicación alternativa, diversa y plural. Estas características serán fundamentales en un contexto en el que la información va a estar cada vez más monopolizada.
