Gracias al sistema de videovigilancia de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, dos delincuentes fueron identificados y detenidos luego de protagonizar un violento robo por arrebato en una de las zonas más transitadas del Microcentro porteño. La intervención de la Policía de la Ciudad se produjo de manera casi inmediata gracias a la colaboración del Centro de Monitoreo Urbano (CMU), que logró seguir en tiempo real cada movimiento de los sospechosos.
El episodio ocurrió en la intersección de Carlos Pellegrini y Diagonal Norte Roque Sáenz Peña, en pleno corazón de la capital argentina. Se trató de un robo cometido en la vía pública a plena luz del día, y en una franja horaria con gran afluencia de personas. Según informaron fuentes del Ministerio de Seguridad porteño, fue uno de los operadores del CMU quien advirtió una actitud sospechosa por parte de un individuo que merodeaba la zona. El comportamiento llamó la atención del personal a cargo de las cámaras, ya que el sujeto parecía estar esperando una oportunidad para cometer un delito.
Pocos minutos después, las sospechas se confirmaron. Las imágenes captadas por las cámaras de vigilancia mostraron con claridad cómo el hombre se acercó a una mujer que caminaba por la avenida Corrientes y, con un rápido movimiento, le arrebató una cadena de oro que llevaba colgada del cuello. El ladrón, tras consumar el robo, no actuó solo: su cómplice lo esperaba a pocos metros, preparado para la huida. Ambos emprendieron la fuga y descendieron apresuradamente por la boca de acceso a la estación Carlos Pellegrini de la Línea B del subte.
Sin perder tiempo, el operador del CMU activó el protocolo de emergencia y emitió una alerta directa a las unidades policiales apostadas en la red de transporte subterráneo. El seguimiento continuó a través del sistema de cámaras instaladas tanto en la superficie como en los andenes de las estaciones, lo que permitió mantener a los sospechosos bajo constante observación hasta su detención.
Mientras se desplazaban por los pasillos del subte con intención de despistar a los efectivos, los delincuentes fueron interceptados por una patrulla que ya había sido advertida de sus características físicas y de la ropa que llevaban puesta. En cuestión de segundos, y sin que pudieran ofrecer resistencia, fueron reducidos y esposados. Uno de ellos aún tenía en su poder la cadena robada, lo que constituyó una prueba directa del delito.
Los detenidos, cuyas identidades no fueron reveladas por razones legales, fueron trasladados a una comisaría vecinal donde quedaron a disposición del juzgado interviniente. Se les imputa el delito de robo en poblado y en banda, agravado por el uso de medios para facilitar la fuga.
De acuerdo con lo informado por fuentes judiciales, ambos contaban con antecedentes penales por hechos similares ocurridos en el mismo radio de acción. Uno de ellos había sido arrestado apenas cuatro meses atrás por otro arrebato, aunque en aquella ocasión recuperó la libertad por falta de pruebas contundentes.
El hecho generó preocupación entre los vecinos y comerciantes de la zona, que desde hace tiempo vienen reclamando mayor presencia policial debido al incremento de este tipo de delitos callejeros. Las cámaras de vigilancia han demostrado ser una herramienta fundamental en la lucha contra el delito urbano, permitiendo no solo disuadir a potenciales delincuentes, sino también actuar con celeridad y eficacia cuando el crimen ya ha sido cometido.
Desde el Gobierno de la Ciudad destacaron el accionar del CMU y la coordinación entre las distintas unidades de seguridad. En un comunicado oficial, se remarcó la importancia de contar con tecnología de última generación para monitorear en tiempo real lo que ocurre en los distintos barrios porteños. Actualmente, el sistema de vigilancia cuenta con más de 15.000 cámaras instaladas en puntos estratégicos, tanto en calles, avenidas, espacios públicos como estaciones de transporte.
La recuperación del objeto robado y la detención de los responsables es celebrada como un logro en términos de prevención del delito. Asimismo, se informó que las víctimas ya fueron contactadas para devolverles sus pertenencias y que se les ofreció acompañamiento psicológico si lo deseaban.
Organizaciones vecinales y referentes del área de seguridad ciudadana señalaron que este caso es un ejemplo de cómo la inversión en tecnología puede facilitar respuestas más rápidas ante situaciones delictivas. No obstante, también advirtieron sobre la necesidad de implementar políticas de seguridad más integrales, que incluyan no solo vigilancia, sino también prevención social del delito, especialmente en el caso de reincidentes.
Este tipo de robos por arrebato, comúnmente asociados a la modalidad conocida como “piraña” —en la que un grupo ataca sorpresivamente a un peatón para robarle objetos de valor—, se ha convertido en una de las formas más frecuentes de inseguridad en zonas de alta circulación. Aunque en este caso no hubo violencia física directa contra la víctima, el impacto psicológico que puede generar un robo de este tipo es significativo.
Los especialistas coinciden en que la combinación de presencia policial, cámaras de monitoreo, inteligencia urbana y participación vecinal activa son las claves para revertir esta problemática. Desde la Policía de la Ciudad insistieron en que cualquier conducta sospechosa observada en la vía pública debe ser reportada al 911 o a través de las aplicaciones oficiales disponibles.
El caso está siendo investigado por la Fiscalía de Flagrancia, que ya cuenta con el material fílmico aportado por el CMU, además del testimonio de la víctima y de los agentes intervinientes. Se espera que en los próximos días se realice la audiencia de control de detención y que se avance en la formulación de cargos formales.
Mientras tanto, la cadena sustraída fue peritada y se confirmó que es de oro de 18 quilates, con un valor de mercado que podría superar los 400 mil pesos. La víctima, una mujer de 52 años que se dirigía a su trabajo, manifestó su agradecimiento a los efectivos que la asistieron rápidamente y expresó su alivio por la pronta resolución del hecho.
