La Ciudad inauguró el jueves pasado la nueva conexión del Ecoparque, desde Plaza Italia hasta Avenida del Libertador y Sarmiento, que permite recorrer el espacio público y verde de punta a punta.
El Ecoparque, en el que hay actualmente 500 ejemplares nativos y 50 árboles de 11 especies distintas, cuenta con 4.200 metros cuadrados de espacios verdes recuperados y 8.000 de nuevos caminos.
Entre las obras que se hicieron se destaca la incorporación de espacio verde y de nuevos miradores, y la recuperación de edificios históricos y de muchos de los recintos. En esa línea, durante la inaguración, también se remarcó el trabajo de los cuidadores y los educadores del Ecoparque.
El Ecoparque es un lugar didáctico con 13 postas con distintas temáticas ambientales, que respeta tres dimensiones: el bienestar animal, el nuevo paradigma (conservación de especies autóctonas) y el Patrimonio Histórico y Cultural, ya que este espacio tiene más de 130 años de historia.
En este nuevo parque ecológico se trabaja sobre la conservación de la fauna nativa y se promueven experiencias que inspiran a los visitantes a proteger el patrimonio natural y arquitectónico de los espacios que lo componen. La restauración total del espacio se hace respetando los tiempos de los animales.
El objetivo principal es enseñar acerca de la biodiversidad argentina a través de las distintas ecorregiones que conforman el espacio, basándose en el proyecto de 1917 de Eduardo Ladislao Holmberg, con el que se buscó recuperar el trazado original del lugar. Lo distintivo es que se multiplicaron los microhábitats para atraer fauna silvestre mediante el uso de vegetación autóctona.
Del mismo modo, y en el marco de las obras que se llevaron a cabo, el Gobierno porteño logró ahorrar 1.100 metros cúbicos de agua por mes y puso en valor La Glorieta, el Templo de Vesta y la fachada de Loros y del Palomar.
