“Se retiró todo el material editado entre 1973 y 1976, y a nuestra biblioteca llegaron camiones con libros de todos lados que se amontonaron en el primer piso. Estábamos seguros de que los iban a destruir, pero aparentemente se olvidaron de una biblioteca alejada, que para ellos no tenía importancia. Y eso, justamente, los salvó”, dice Liliana Colecchia, ex-directora de la Biblioteca Manuel Gálvez, una de las impulsoras de la actividad Prohibido no leer.

Durante la dictadura cívico militar que se instaló en nuestro país a partir de 1976, el silencio y la censura ocuparon los estantes de las Bibliotecas de la Ciudad. Bajo orden estricta del gobierno de facto, cientos de libros fueron prohibidos, secuestrados y retirados de circulación.

44 años después las Bibliotecas te invitan a descubrir y revalorizar los libros que fueron censurados y muchos de ellos quemados. Prohibido No Leer busca rescatar la memoria a través de la cultura y promueve la libertad de expresión como derecho humano indispensable para la construcción cultural de una sociedad.
