Las autoridades del Gobierno Porteño analizan la posibilidad de volver a instalar centros donde se quema la basura, tal como funcionó en las adyacencias del Palacio Tomas Adolfo Ducó hasta 1976. “El humo de la quema” expresan tangos, poesias y memorias de hinchas de fanaticos del fútbol cuando se refieren a la cancha de Huracán, en esa sintonia esta semana comenzó a utilizarse el último lote disponible en el Ceamse para enterrar la basura y de acá a 5 años ya no habrá más espacio, por lo que los gobiernos de Ciudad y Provincia estudian volver a instalar quemas o algún otro tipo de centro de reciclado para frenar un colapso inminente.
Actualmente las estadísticas afirman que en el Área Metropolitana de Buenos Aires se llena un estadio de fútbol de basura cada 11 días, cifra que aumenta a diario. En la Ciudad de Buenos Aires el 73% de las 6.760 toneladas de basura que tiran por día recibe algún tratamiento. Entre los materiales que se recuperan de esos desechos y los que rescatan los cartoneros, se reutiliza la mitad. Las 2.999 toneladas restantes se entierran, actualmente existe en el barrio de Villa Soldati un centro de tratamiento de residuos sólidos, donde se recuperan 10 toneladas por hora, otra alternativa es construir más de estos centros para enviar menos cantidad de basura al Ceamse.
Según expresó el subsecretario de Higiene Urbano “cada día, los 5.324 recuperadores urbanos rescatan 530 toneladas de materiales de la basura. Los cartoneros informales aportan 900 más. En la planta de áridos se recuperan 2.500. Y los 166 puntos verdes reciben otras 5,7 toneladas.”
En caso de que el gobierno porteño opte por la quema, deberán modificar la ley de Basura Cero, que prohíbe cualquier tipo de quema de residuos en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
