Desde mayo, ha comenzado a implementarse el plan de plantación para este año, que se extenderá hasta octubre. A continuación, te informamos sobre los progresos realizados.
Inicialmente, se había proyectado plantar 15,000 árboles en 2024. Sin embargo, debido a la pérdida de más de 1,000 ejemplares a causa de las tormentas, se ha incrementado la meta a más de 18,000 plantaciones. Para llevar a cabo este plan, se incorporarán 7,500 nuevas planteras y se han identificado más de 6,000 planteras vacías. Además, se añadirán 4,400 ejemplares en espacios verdes.
La época ideal para la plantación coincide con los meses más frescos del año, lo que permite reducir el estrés en los árboles recién plantados y mejorar su tasa de supervivencia.
Se plantarán diversas especies de árboles, entre las cuales se encuentran: fresno dorado, crespón, fotinia, viscote, pata de vaca, anacahuita, cedro misionero, lapacho rosado, ciruelo de flor, jacarandá, liquidámbar, tulipanero, plátano, tilo, ibirapitá, tipa, fresno americano, arce plateado, entre otras.
La selección de especies se basa principalmente en las características del espacio donde se plantará el árbol, como el ancho de la vereda y el espacio disponible para el crecimiento de la copa, así como en las características del árbol mismo. A continuación, se detallan algunas de las especies seleccionadas para esta temporada:
- Jacarandá (Jacaranda mimosifolia): Conocido por su llamativo color violáceo en la floración, que ocurre principalmente en noviembre y se repite, aunque con menor intensidad, en febrero. Su follaje de hojas compuestas aporta un aspecto etéreo y refrescante a las calles de la ciudad. Es adecuado para veredas de tamaño mediano y grande.
- Fresno (Fraxinus spp.): Destacado por su adaptabilidad, robustez, rapidez de crecimiento y resistencia a plagas, lo que lo convierte en una opción popular para el arbolado urbano. Su follaje denso en verano se pierde en otoño, permitiendo que la luz solar entre durante los meses más oscuros. Es apto para veredas de tamaño mediano y grande.
- Tilo (Tilia viridis sub. x moltkei): Su frondoso follaje, forma elegante y aroma de flores añaden valor estético y sensorial a esta especie. Es adecuado para veredas de gran tamaño.
- Tipa (Tipuana tipu): Se encuentra en el noveno lugar entre las especies más frecuentes. Es uno de los árboles más grandes y vistosos cultivados en las aceras de Buenos Aires. Debido a sus dimensiones, se ubica únicamente en veredas de gran ancho. Su floración dorada en primavera adorna las veredas y calles, proporcionando un atractivo visual prolongado.
- Crespón (Lagerstroemia indica): Este árbol de tamaño pequeño se destaca entre las especies más comunes para el arbolado urbano. Su excelente adaptación al entorno urbano lo convierte en ideal para veredas estrechas.
