Ante el anuncio del Ministro de Agroindustria, Ricardo Buryaile, de que se prepara un proyecto de Ley de Semillas para llevar al Congreso de la Nación se realizò una acto en repudio a este proyecto frente a la puerta del Ministerio de Agroindustria, en Paseo Colón 982, Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires. Estuvimos en contacto con las organizaciones de la multisectorial que rechaza la Ley de Semillas y que participaron de este acto. Este es su relato explicando los motivos de la protesta:
“Varios espacios venimos trabajado los últimos años para enfrentar este avance sobre nuestra soberanía alimentaria, desde distintas iniciativas. Creemos que la actual coyuntura política y la inmediatez de esta presentación de ley nos debe encontrar unidos, razón por la cual hemos comenzado a articular en la Multisectorial contra la Ley de Semillas, un espacio abierto de trabajo que intenta evitar la avanzada de esta ley, difundiendo las alternativas agroecológicas opuestas al agronegocio que se han venido construyendo en todos estos años”.
“La semilla es la base de nuestra alimentación, fuente de diversidad agrícola cultural. Creadora de comunidad y vida. Para las grandes corporaciones es un negocio. La semilla ha sido el insumo utilizado para consolidar la actual cadena del agronegocio en Argentina, Paraguay, Brasil y el resto de América Latina. A través de ella, estas multinacionales nos han impuesto un destino común de saqueo y muerte. Desaparición de bosques nativos, sustitución de cultivos centrales para nuestra alimentación (como el girasol), expulsión de los pequeños productores agrarios de sus tierras y eliminación del empleo rural (con dos trabajadores por cada 500 has de producción) han sido sólo algunas de las consecuencias sufridas por nuestros pueblos”.
“Finalmente, los agrotóxicos que estas empresas asocian a las semillas profundizan un genocidio silencioso que hoy está afectando a las poblaciones rurales y urbanas de todo el mundo, con enfermedades como alergias, cáncer, abortos espontáneos y deformaciones. Y si hasta ahora estas corporaciones utilizaron nuestras semillas milenarias para sus negocios, hoy también se las quieren apropiar”.
“Por eso el Ministerio de Agroindustria, enviará al Congreso de la Nación un anteproyecto elaborado para la modificación de la actual Ley de Semillas y Creaciones Fitogenéticas. Este es uno más de los muchos intentos de modificación que, desde 2012, buscan reconfigurar los mecanismos de producción, comercialización y propiedad de las semillas en nuestro país. Otra vez la discusión de este proyecto ha sido generada a espaldas de quienes seremos directamente afectados”.
“Seguiremos resistiendo en las calles y diciendo NO a la reforma de la Ley de semillas. Los compañeros/as de Chile, Perú y Colombia, que rechazaron esas leyes, nos mostraron la forma. Las experiencias de millones de campesinos/as y productores/as familiares, que practican milenarias formas de agricultura sustentable y sana, nos iluminan el camino.
Creemos que la soberanía alimentaria es un derecho que se lucha. Asimismo alertamos que la Corte Suprema de Justicia de la Nación tiene en estudio una demanda de Monsanto en la que pretende patentar las plantas genéticamente modificadas, es decir, un abierto acto de biopiratería”.
