Los ciclistas profesionales y aficionados tendrán un nuevo circuito en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires. Se trata de la pista de ciclismo que el Gobierno porteño está a punto de finalizar dentro del predio del Parque Sarmiento.
Con un recorrido de 3,2 kilómetros, el circuito ubicado en el barrio de Saavedra, en la Comuna 12, será el más extenso en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
Además, tiene la particularidad de que será de uso exclusivo para ciclistas, algo único en el mundo. “He estado en muchos países y no es común que haya un circuito de estas características. Están en parques o en algunas costaneras, pero no sólo lo utilizan los ciclistas, también hay peatones y se cruza gente”, explicó el campeón olímpico Walter Pérez.
La obra, que está a cargo de la Secretaría de Transporte y Obras Públicas, abarca todo el perímetro del parque y fue pensada primordialmente para garantizar la seguridad vial en una zona que, por ser uno de los accesos más importantes a la Capital, es de alto tránsito vehicular. Autos particulares y transporte público, pero también peatones y deportistas, confluyen a diario en la intersección de la Avenida Ricardo Balbín y la colectora Juan Bautista de la Salle para disfrutar de las actividades e instalaciones que ofrece uno de los pulmones verdes más grandes del territorio porteño.
Asimismo, la nueva pista busca seguir impulsando el crecimiento profesional de esa disciplina que, de esta forma, se podrá practicar en una superficie segura y especialmente preparada para la actividad.
La pista contará con dos carriles de un metro en cada costado para la circulación en diferentes velocidades. Estará cercada para evitar el cruce de peatones, y también, tendrá iluminación. A su vez, Pérez adelantó que “tendrá dos desafíos o exigencias deportivas, que son los puentes que atraviesan las entradas de los vehículos”.
También será usada de forma recreativa, ya que estará disponible para que los vecinos puedan disfrutar más de los espacios verdes.
La nueva pista estaría lista en las próximas semanas.
