Tras una investigación por un asalto a mano armada, en el cual le vaciaron la billetera electrónica a una de las víctimas, la Policía de la Ciudad detuvo a un kiosquero del Barrio 31 bis, receptor de los fondos sustraídos y a su vez revendedor de los celulares robados a través de redes sociales.
La investigación se inició a raíz de un robo, ocurrido en diciembre del 2022 en la plaza República Federativa del Brasil, próxima a la Facultad de Derecho de la UBA, en donde dos delincuentes armados asaltaron y despojaron de sus pertenencias a un hombre y una mujer.
Luego, los autores del hecho ingresaron a la app de Mercadopago del celular de la joven, logrando extraer una suma considerable de dinero que tenía en dicha billetera virtual, mediante transferencias hacia otra cuenta de la plataforma.
Debido a la especificidad del delito, la fiscalía interviniente solicitó el esclarecimiento del hecho a la Superintendencia de Lucha Contra el Cibercrimen de la Policía de la Ciudad, y la sección de Ciberdelitos contra el Sistema Financiero inició el seguimiento de la ruta del dinero, y a través del análisis complementario de correos electrónicos, direcciones IP y geolocalización de teléfonos, lograron dar con la ubicación del comercio que había recibido los fondos, en el Barrio 31 Bis de Retiro, y la identidad del dueño del mismo, un hombre de 36 años que vivía en un primer piso sobre el local.
Adicionalmente, se detectó en redes sociales un perfil activo del sujeto investigado, desde el cual publicaba teléfonos celulares usados, ofreciéndolos únicamente en grupos y páginas de Facebook de vecinos del Barrio 31, por lo que a la luz de las pruebas obtenidas, el Juzgado Nacional en lo Criminal y Correccional 23, a cargo del Dr. Martín Yadarola, Secretaría 158 a cargo del Dr. Guillermo Rodríguez, ordenó el allanamiento de ambos domicilios, local y vivienda.
Como resultado del operativo, se secuestró un posnet de Mercadopago, un lector de tarjetas magnéticas Open Pay del Banco BBVA, una netbook, una Tablet, un pendrive y dos tarjetas de memoria microSD. Asimismo, el imputado fue detenido en el lugar y trasladado a la Alcaidía N°4 de la Policía de la Ciudad.
