La vacunación es la mejor táctica para prevenir el sarampión y la rubéola. También la vacuna triple viral protege contra las paperas.
¿Porque hay que vacunarse?
El Sarampión
Es una enfermedad viral extremadamente contagiosa y muy grave, que se irradia fácil cuando el individuo infectado descarta secreciones respiratorias al hablar, toser o estornudar. Puede mostrarse en todas las edades, estando los niños más afectados y siendo de gravedad en los niños infantes e inmunocomprometidos. Puede producir graves dificultades respiratorias como neumonía o padecimientos del sistema nervioso central.
Los síntomas: fiebre alta, secreción nasal, conjuntivitis y tos, erupción en la cara y cuello que se va extendiendo al resto del cuerpo.
Rubéola
Enfermedad viral que puede darse en adultos y niños. Cuando una mujer embarazada que no ha tenido el virus, se expone a este puede acarrear la muerte fetal y neonatal como también al Síndrome de Rubeola congénita con peligrosas malformaciones en el recién nacido que causan sordera, ceguera y cardiopatías congénitas.
Los síntomas: son fiebre y erupción en la piel.
Paperas
Enfermedad viral que se determina por hinchazón de las glándulas parótidas (glándulas salivales). Consigue producir complicaciones como orquitis (inflamación testicular), pancreatitis, encefalitis, entre otras.

La medida ideal de prevención es la vacunación.
Tenemos la vacuna Triple Viral (que resguarda contra los virus de sarampión, rubeola y parotiditis). Hay diferentes marcas que son análogos. Es una vacuna eficaz, que está contenida en el Calendario Nacional de Vacunación a los 12 meses de edad y a la entrada escolar 5-6 años. La vacuna es obligatoria.
No hay una vacuna que proteja solo contra el sarampión.
¿Quiénes tienen que vacunarse?
Deben hacerlo los que tienen que cumplir su esquema de vacunación:
- De 12 meses a 4 años: deben confirmar 1 dosis de vacuna Triple Viral.
- A partir de los 5-6 años (cuando ingresan al establecimiento escolar): deben acreditar 2 dosis de vacuna Triple Viral.
La acreditación es exhibiendo el carnet de vacunas. El descanso mínimo entre dosis es de 1 mes.
Los individuos nacidos antes del año 1965 no precisan vacunarse porque son inmunes. Todos los mayores nacidos después de 1965 deben certificar dosis de vacuna Doble o Triple Viral.
¿Qué personas NO pueden vacunarse?
Como es una vacuna a virus vivos , no pueden vacunarse embarazadas ni personas inmunocomprometidas.
Vacunarse es además preservar al otro.
¿Dónde puedo ir a vacunarme?
Puedo dirigirme a cualquier vacunatorio de hospital y centros de salud de la Ciudad.
¿Necesito orden médica?
Esta vacuna NO requiere orden médica.
