Ayudar a los bomberos a detectar el foco exacto de un incendio, guiar una persecución policial o colaborar con la búsqueda de una persona. Esas son algunas de las funciones que pueden cumplir el escuadrón de drones del Sistema Integral de Seguridad Pública de la Ciudad.
Los vehículos aéreos no tripulados (VANT), creados en el campo militar para operaciones de riesgo y luego adaptados al uso civil, fueron incorporados a partir de 2017 por la Subsecretaría de Emergencia, integrada por Bomberos, Defensa Civil y Logística, y la Policía de la Ciudad. Se utilizan para aportar información clave, muchas veces en medio de un operativo, para ayudar en la toma de decisiones.
En el último incendio registrado en la Reserva Ecológica -controlado tras más de 12 horas de trabajo, sin víctimas- fue clave aporte de la flota de drones utilizada por los Bomberos y Defensa Civil.
Los agentes llegaron al lugar tras un llamado al 911 donde vecinos alertaban por la presencia de humo. El despliegue aéreo en la zona del fuego permitió tener una imagen panorámica del área, donde las dificultades para abrirse paso a través de la vegetación y el humo complicaban la visión.
“Fueron un apoyo clave para ver cómo se propagaban las llamas y cuánta extensión tenía el siniestro, datos imposibles de obtener de otra manera. Esa información se utilizó para planificar el ataque”, explicaron fuentes del operativo. El sobrevuelo por la zona determinó que el foco ígneo tenía unos mil metros.
Desde una tablet, el jefe del operativo pudo seguir las imágenes en tiempo real y compartirlas con los otros encargados de los trabajos para evaluar la actuación. “Esas tareas antes se hacían con vuelos de helicópteros, pero los drones simplifican y agilizan el procedimiento. Ese tiempo puede ser clave para salvar vidas. En este caso fue en la Reserva Ecológica, pero también puede ser en un edificio donde se permite ver qué pasa en las zonas donde no se tiene acceso a simple vista”, agregaron.
En la flota de Bomberos se destaca un DJI Mavic Air 2, con capacidad para grabar videos HD e identificar focos ígneos que no se perciben a la vista, tanto en fábricas, grandes depósitos y edificios de altura. “A través de la cantidad de calorías que se están concentrando en un lugar, podemos identificar los lugares en los que hay que trabajar para sofocar, extinguir o mitigar el incendio”, explica el bombero calificado Matías Rivero. Esa información también se utiliza luego en las pericias.
Las imágenes aéreas son un aporte clave también en la búsqueda de personas. “Se han utilizado para localizar personas extraviadas en espacios como la Reserva Ecológica y personas que habían caído al Riachuelo”, repasan desde Bomberos.
Los drones también son utilizados por la Policía de la Ciudad. “Uno de nuestros equipos tiene una cámara de alta complejidad y cuenta con un sistema de autotrack que permite marcar al auto o la persona que estamos persiguiendo, teniendo datos sobre su recorrido. Esa información es clave para el personal que van en patrullaje”, explica la comisario Lorena Rivero, jefa del Departamento de Aviación Policial.
El drone más moderno con el que cuenta la fuerza porteña es el DJI Matrice 200. Puede volar hasta siete kilómetros desde el lugar donde se encuentra el piloto y permite coordinar el trabajo de dos comandos para cubrir el doble de recorrido. Además, cuenta con 40 kilómetros de autonomía y “carga en caliente”, como se conoce al sistema que permite realizar el cambio de baterías sin apagar el equipo.
El Matrice 200 está diseñado para continuar con un viaje con tres motores en caso de que falle una de las hélices. También cuenta con cámaras y sensores que reducen al mínimo la chance de colisiones, con capacidad para detectar hasta la presencia de un cable de un milímetro.
Las imágenes que obtiene son monitoreadas en vivo por un móvil de transmisión. Eso permite no sólo que intervengan en persecuciones sino en situaciones de tensión como una toma de rehenes.
“El dron nos permite ver el lugar, los accesos, si hay animales peligrosos para el ingreso del personal, si puede haber una salida por donde la persona pueda huir, etc. Toda esa información se comparte en vivo con la sala de situación, donde se encuentran los jefes que están a cargo de la toma de decisiones y coordinan el trabajo de las fuerzas de seguridad que intervienen en el operativo”, detalla Rivero.
