La mayoría de las especies halladas son autóctonas, como cabecitas negra, cardenales de copete rojo, jilgueros, corbatitas y reina moras, pero también exóticas como cotorras y estorninos, una especie de Asia y Nueva Zelanda introducida en Sudamérica entre otros puntos del planeta.
Personal de la División Delitos Ambientales llevó a cabo el procedimiento en el inmueble ubicado en la calle Tonelero al 6000, con intervención del Juzgado Penal, Contravencional y de Faltas Número 22, Secretaría 44 del doctor Gonzalo Graziano y tras una investigación llevada adelante por la Unidad Fiscal Especializada en Materia Ambiental (UFEMA) del doctor Carlos Rolero Santurián, Secretaría del doctor Ricardo Bomparola.
En el lugar se contó con la colaboración del Cuerpo de Investigaciones Judiciales (CIJ) del Ministerio Público Fiscal (MPF).
Al arribar el inmueble, los efectivos hallaron 8 cardenales copete rojo, 11 corbatitas, 18 cabecitas negras, 6 reina moras, 6 jilgueros, 4 estorninos y 12 cotorras exóticas, de tenencia prohibida por las leyes ambientales vigentes.
Además, había 97 jaulas y tramperas, las cuales eran utilizadas para mantener en cautiverio a las aves y cazarlas en sus hábitats naturales.
El médico veterinario que concurrió verificó que los pájaros estaban hacinados, casi sin agua ni comida y presentando distintas enfermedades.
Se consultó con el magistrado actuante y se dispuso notificar al propietario del criadero y ordenar el secuestro de las aves y que sean trasladadas a la Reserva Ecológica y a la ONG Pájaros Caídos, lugar donde serán atendidos para luego ser liberados, cada especie en su hábitat correspondiente.
