El operativo fue hecho en forma conjunta en un local de una galería en la avenida Corrientes al 2300 por personal de la Brigada de la Comisaría Comunal 3, la Comisaría Vecinal 3B, la Dirección de Orden Urbano, de la Policía de la Ciudad, la Dirección General de Coordinación Operativa de Ministerio de Justicia y Seguridad, y la Agencia Gubernamental de control, que fue la encargada de clausurar el negocio.

Uno de los negocios que pasaban inadvertidos era un polirrubro con kiosko, almacén, juguetería y afines, pero que en realidad era utilizado como fachada para esconder el negocio de compra y venta de celulares robados.

Cuando la policía llegó al lugar, el responsable del negocio, un ciudadano peruano de 28 años, intentó cerrar y huir, pero no lo pudo hacer y reabrió el local.

Se le hallaron seis aparatos denunciados como robados, según el Ente Nacional de Comunicaciones (ENACOM), entre ellos el que usaba el propio encargado, y otros 37 cuya procedencia no pudo justificar.

Concluido el operativo, el personal de la AGC procedió a clausurar el local. El detenido y los celulares secuestrados quedaron a disposición del Juzgado en lo Criminal y Correccional Federal  1, a cargo de la Dra. María Romilda Servini, secretaría 1.
