los equipos de agentes internacionales que tienen una flota de 30 aviones 0 Km y el desarrollo de la base operativa en el aeropuerto de El Palomar, eran solo algunos de los puntos que podían leerse en el plan de negocios que, el 26 diciembre de 2016, la aerolínea Flybondi presentó ante la Administración Nacional de Aviación Civil (ANAC) para convertirse en la primera low cost argentina.
Por primera vez en 11 años, el Estado habilitó el pedido de nuevas rutas para volar a lo largo y a lo ancho del país. En ese contexto, tanto los profesionales históricos del sector como los representantes de los seis gremios aeronáuticos se mostraron escépticos y muchos se pronunciaron en contra del proyecto presentado por el CEO de la firma, el suizo Julian Cook. Uno de los puntos más cuestionados por la industria era el financiamiento. ¿De dónde saldrían los fondos para fundar una nueva aerolínea?
Casi ocho meses después de la audiencia pública, Flybondi confirmó una recaudación de US$ 75 millones “adicionales al capital inicial de la fase de start-up” y aclaró cómo está compuesta su cartera de inversores. El principal es Cartesian Capital Group LLC. En segundo plano, la firma menciona a Yamasa Co. Limited y otros importantes inversores de la industria como Michael Cawley -ex COO en Ryanair Holdings- y Michael Powell – ex CFO en Wizz Air Holdings. Todos tendrán a un representante en el directorio. Por parte del primer fondo, estará su Managing Partner, Peter Yu quien fue miembro del directorio de la aerolínea de bajo costo Gol Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes, compañía en la que el equipo del Grupo Cartesian lideró la inversión institucional inicial en 2002. Bertrand Grabowski, ex gerente General de la división financiera de aviación del banco DVB, será el representante de Yamasa Co.
Fecha de inicio de la operación: “Planeamos iniciar nuestras operaciones en el cuarto trimestre de 2017”.
Aeropuerto: “Ya hemos presentado nuestro proyecto de construcción de una terminal en la base aérea de El Palomar y esperamos que una vez que sea aprobado, la obra se lleve a cabo para que la terminal esté lista para iniciar las operaciones desde allí en el primer semestre de 2018. Además, firmamos un acuerdo con el Gobierno de Córdoba para establecer un hub en el aeropuerto Ambrosio Taravella, donde pernoctarán nuestras aeronaves. Volaremos entre el aeropuerto de Córdoba y Aeroparque; en el caso del segundo, será de modo provisorio hasta que la obra en El Palomar esté terminada. Para El Palomar estimamos tener, en cinco años, un equipo de 500 colaboradores directos”.
Aviones: “Estamos cerrando los contratos de leasing para los 10 primeros aviones que tendremos hacia fin de 2018. Cada año sumaremos 6 aeronaves, para sumar 30 en 2021. Las aeronaves estarán configuradas con 189 asientos que tendrán el costo más bajo del mercado. El modelo es Boeing 737-800NG”.
Recursos humanos: “Nuestro proceso de contratación de pilotos es continuo, ya que nuestro plan requiere 120 pilotos hacia 2018. Seguimos con el proceso de contratación tripulantes de cabina de pasajeros, así como también de personal de mantenimiento y varios puestos administrativos. Hacia fin de 2018, estimamos tener un equipo de alrededor de 600 colaboradores en total. En un plazo de cinco años, Flybondi generará 1500 puestos de empleo directos. Un dato muy relevante para nosotros es que desde octubre de 2016 hasta hoy recibimos más de 15.000 CVs”.
