Tras varias denuncias de robos bajo esta modalidad, oficiales motorizados de la Comuna 6 montaron un operativo, y tras una intensa persecución lograron detenerlos. Durante la huída fueron descartando bolsos y mochilas que habían arrebatado en la zona de Almagro y Caballito.
 La Policía de la Ciudad llevó a cabo un operativo que permitió la detención de dos peligrosos motochorros de nacionalidad peruana que operaban regularmente en la zona de Caballito. Tras una intensa persecución los delincuentes fueron atrapados en Flores, cuando volvían de asaltar a una mujer en Almagro.

A raíz de distintas denuncias de robos cometidos por motochorros, recibidas en la Comisaría Vecinal 6-A de la Policía de laCiudad, se detectó que en horas de la noche dos delincuentes, con cascos y a bordo de una moto negra marca Yamaha, interceptaban a sus víctimas y mientras el conductor permanecía en el vehículo, el otro las asaltaba con mucha agresividad.

Por este motivo, efectivos motorizados de la división Sumarios y Brigadas de Prevención de la Comuna 6 iniciaron patrullajes en los horarios establecidos a fin de dar con los sospechosos.

Fue así que días atrás, siendo aproximadamente las 10 de la noche, personal policial circulaba por la avenida Donato Álvarez, cuando al llegar a la esquina de Méndez de Andes observaron pasar a gran velocidad una moto de similares características a la buscada, con dos ocupantes que coincidían con la descripción aportada por las víctimas y con las imágenes obtenidas por una cámara de seguridad durante uno de los hechos.

Los agentes inmediatamente dieron la voz de alto e iniciaron la persecución de los sospechosos, quienes al advertir la presencia policial intensificaron la fuga, cruzando semáforos en rojo y tomando calles de contramano, mientras iban descartando elementos robados para reducir peso.

Llegando a la esquina de Páez y Granaderos, los delincuentes doblaron bruscamente embistiendo a un oficial motorizado de la Policía de la Ciudad, cayendo ambas motos al piso. El conductor fue detenido allí mismo, mientras que el acompañante huyó corriendo y fue atrapado a 150 metros. 

Allí fueron identificados ante testigos, tratándose de dos ciudadanos peruanos, y minutos después se hicieron presentes vecinos que aportaron un bolso y una mochila que los imputados habían arrojado durante la fuga. Una de las carteras recuperadas pertenecía a una mujer de 38 años, quien mas tarde fue localizada y refirió que momentos antes los ladrones la habían asaltado en Virrey Liniers al 300. 

Los detenidos fueron trasladados a la Alcaidía N° 6 y puestos a disposición de la justicia.
